Driving up thru Florida I was again drawn to thoughts of Veteran’s Day. Stopping at big junctions in small towns in the middle of central Florida I saw a handful of homeless guys. Twice I saw signs saying hungry veteran, it’s a painful truth that America likes to ignore
These brave fellas gave up something to fight for our freedoms. I don’t know much about Veteran affairs but surely we could be doing more to ensure that these guys don’t end up on the street?
I know that each case is different. Some of these brave men & women have been affected by their experiences in very profound ways and need more care than others. I just think it’s a damn shame that any of them should spend their days with cardboard signs sitting and begging on a roadside.
Tough email for me to write, because sometimes I feel like I don’t give enough. So let’s take some time to be mindful of those people who are having a tougher time than us.
