Remember last week when I told you about jury duty? Well, guess what – I got chosen! Lucky me!? A whole week of this?
But hey, I won’t whine. Gotta fulfill my civic duty.
There was a long speech and presentations, but one story stood out to me, tho. The judge asked if any veterans were in the group—and a few men raised their hands. She thanked them for their service and then hit us with this:
“If veterans served their country and risked their lives in the military, then we don’t get to complain about how jury duty is “inconvenient” when it is the least we could do.
In the United States, it is a privilege—just like voting—to have jury duty within the court so that everyone has a fair trial.”
Kinda puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?
