This is my website and I’ll rant if I want to! I HATE there was some words that you can’t really use anymore because you may or may not offend someone that you already don’t like. One phrase is self identity. In my opinion, it’s important that you know who you are and what you stand for.
No, I don’t mean this in a “woke era” sense. I mean this in a true old-school way. Example, do you like hunting? or cars? or Trump? We should be able to have different likes and passions without other people disliking us.
You can be a straight white male without judgement too.
I’m a man of a certain age… I know the struggles! Yes there are struggles.
Before you laugh, everyone goes through their own shit. I’m no different. Whether you are a hen-pecked husband, a divorcee, have health issues, have kid issues, a combat vet, a demanding job, unemployed – everyone has their issues.
Also, with most men of a certain age, we go through things we don’t talk about – weight gain, wives/gfs buying clothes for us, seasonal weather changes. These all effect our mindset and our closet and how we feel about clothes choices.
I went through a tough period of time 7 years ago when I was dealing with health issues, and obviously my fashion choices took a back seat. When I was finally coming out of it, my wife took me to the mall for a closet refresh (I’d put on some weight so some of my tees were “snug”). My wife kept showing me shirts she’d “like to see me in” – and I thought … that’s not me, dammit!
I realised that despite all the shit, I want to keep my own identity and make my own choices on the things I like and step 1 was my closet. So if you have had issues like me, believe me when I say “I get it”. Reclaiming your self identity is important at every age.
Also believe me when I say making small choices about your identity really help to get you back feeling like yourself and the easiest choice to make is a t-shirt or 2 that you love. So have a browse, see what you like and what you don’t.
It’s hard for me to talk about that period of my life so I don’t expect you too – but I will talk about any of my shirts on here!
