Sun Records is an American independent record label founded by producer Sam Phillips in Memphis, Tennessee back in February 1952. They gained their reputation by unearthing some musical royalty. In fact Sun Records call themselves “Where Rock and Roll was Born” because they were the first label to record Elvis Presley, Charlie Rich, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash. Sun boast the famous photograph of the Million Dollar Quartet – Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis grouped round Elvis Presley at the piano, the night when the four joined in an impromptu jam at Sun Records’ one-room sound studio in December 1956. This old-school Sun Records T-shirt has a distressed print to look as if you bought it at a gig in the 60’s.
