I get that some people are sensitive about Father’s Day, but that’s today and I’m gonna write about it. And there are no Dad jokes here
My dad lives 5000 miles away. And like most fathers, he doesn’t talk much especially on the phone. That’s not to say we don’t have a bond, we do, but it’s mostly unspoken. I’m old enough now to know that no-one is perfect but there is always a mutual respect – even if we never say it.
All that being said, I wrote a few blogs about Father’s Day (read them here). Some of them were about Dad friends or people I knew. BUT as I was writing about Old School Rocker Dad I realised that my own dad inspired it. My childhood friends remember him with long hair on his motorcycle talking endlessly about Pink Floyd.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is more than just a movie people remember. It’s one people grew up with. It played on repeat in living rooms, stayed on shelves next to worn VHS tapes, and quietly became part of how an entire generation learned what a “favorite movie” felt like.
