This New York hip hop duo formed on Long Island in 1986, and as the name suggests is made up of DJ Eric B. and rapper Rakim. They first received acclaim for their 1987 debut album Paid in Full. The hit machine continued rumbling, Eric B & Rakim they followed with three successful albums: Follow the Leader (1988), Let the Rhythm Hit ‘Em (1990), and Don’t Sweat the Technique (1992). As rappers go, they are so successful that Rolling Stone magazine ranked them No. 5 on its list of the 20 Greatest Duos of All Time, seriously.
