You know that there cannot be a collection of Christmas tees without an honorable mention for It’s a Wonderful Life. The reason I chose 8 is for the $8,000 that were stolen from George Bailey that tipped him over the edge and basically formed the entire storyline. It’s a dark classic feel-good Christmas movie from a time that really needed it. I don’t know about you, but it also makes a pretty good life motto too.

This 1946 Christmas movie was based on a short story “The Greatest Gift“, It’s a Wonderful Life has become the ultimate Christmas classic. The film stars James Stewart as George Bailey, a man who has given up his personal dreams, in order to help others in his community, and whose thoughts of suicide on Christmas Eve brings about the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody (Henry Travers). Although, in the theaters the IAWL was a complete flop and initially received mixed reviews and was unsuccessful at the box office. It became a Christmas classic after its copyright lapsed and it fell into the public domain, which allowed it to be broadcast without licensing or royalty fees, repeatedly every xmas. It’s a Wonderful Life is now rightly considered one of the greatest films of all time. In 1990, the film was designated as “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant” and added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress.
