Ozzy’s Homecoming — One Final Flicker of the Fire
You already know. Ozzy’s gone.
And even though he’s been bracing for this for a little while… it still hits like a brick.
A Rockstar in the truest sense of the word.
To me, he was a living rock legend.
More than just a frontman — Ozzy was the heartbeat of heavy metal. A creator. A disrupter. An absolute force of nature. AND obviously a rockstar in the truest sense of the word.
A wild force who somehow kept going long after most would’ve burned out and yea, you could see it sometimes. But that takes nothing away from his legend.
He had numerous close-calls that would’ve killed many a pretender to the throne.
He didn’t just play the game — he broke the rules, rewrote them, then lit the whole damn book on fire. Then he did it again!
He could see it coming
And yeah, you could kinda see it in these last few years.
The interviews, the canceled appearances, the look in his eyes — still sharp, still Ozzy, but carrying something heavier.
I read that piece from May where he opened up about the toll his health had taken.
The spark was still there… just not as hopeful as it used to be. He survived soooo much, I started to think that maybe he was immortal! If anyone could’ve made a “deal” with you know who… it had to be the prince of darkness!
Ozzy’s Homecoming
Then three weeks ago, something incredible happened.
Ozzy reunited with Black Sabbath one final time —Back to the Beginning, at Villa Park.
His hometown. The home of his beloved Aston Villa. A stone’s throw from where Sabbath began.
He didn’t stand the entire show. May he couldn’t. He didn’t need to. He sat on his bat throne and sang his heart out. No pyrotechnics. No fanfare. Just the music, the history, and the weight of what it all meant. And a few very famous special guests.
Looking back, maybe that was the moment. Maybe that was him saying:
“This is it. This is the homecoming.”
So tonight, I’m putting on Dirt. Diary of a Madman. Blizzard of Ozz.
Not to mourn — but to remember. To feel what it meant to grow up with that voice rattling the walls and keeping you company when nothing else made sense.
Ozzy, you went out like you lived — on your own terms.
And you’ll never be forgotten.
Rest easy, Prince of Darkness.
