STP aka the Stone Temple Pilots are a grunge and alt Rock band out of San Diego, California. Stone Temple Pilots line-up was unchanged for the first 25 years with Scott Weiland as the lead singer until his well-publicised battles with drug addiction caused a difficult parting of ways. Weiland joined Velvet Revolver before his tragic passing. While resurrecting in 2016, Stone Temple Pilots launched an online audition for a new lead vocalist and announced Jeff Gutt as the new lead singer of the band. STP were a massive commercial success in an era of indie acts, they were one of the biggest selling artists of the 90’s. These grungy graphic Stone Temple Pilots T-Shirts have a faded print to make it look as if you bought it at an alternative gig in the 90’s.
Stone Temple Pilots’ lineup was a perfect storm of talent, and that’s what made them stand out in the ‘90s rock scene. You had Scott Weiland, the frontman with that haunting, yet soulful voice that could shift from smooth melodies to gritty, raw power in the blink of an eye. Then there’s Dean DeLeo on guitar, laying down riffs that weren’t just catchy—they were infectious. His brother Robert DeLeo on bass kept everything locked down with his steady rhythm, while Eric Kretz’s drumming provided the perfect backbone, making every beat feel tight and essential. This lineup wasn’t just a band; it was a tight-knit group of musicians who understood how to blend grunge, rock, and a little bit of psychedelic flair into something uniquely theirs. When they all came together, it was like magic—creating timeless hits like “Plush” and “Interstate Love Song,” tracks that still hold up today. Stone Temple Pilots weren’t just a product of the ‘90s; they were a defining part of it.
Stone Temple Pilots’ music style was a wild mix of grunge, alternative rock, and a little psychedelic flair, and it hit like a punch. The band blended dark, haunting melodies with catchy, anthemic hooks, creating songs that felt both raw and polished at the same time. Stone Temple Pilots weren’t afraid to experiment, bringing in elements of classic rock and even a little bit of funk.
