Woodstock Music and Art Fair, we know it simply as Woodstock, was a music festival held August 15–18, 1969, on Max Yasgur‘s dairy farm in Bethel, New York, – actually 40 miles southwest of the town of Woodstock. Billed as Woodstock Rock Festival “an Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music”, it attracted an audience of more than 400,000 and 32 acts performed outdoors despite the rain, including legends such as The Who, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. It would go down in history as one of the defining moments in Rock Music history – a truly groundbreaking event.
