Yet another tragic member of the notorious 27 Club, Janis Joplin rose to fame following an appearance at Monterey Pop Festival (1967), where she was the lead singer of the little-known psychedelic rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company. She released 4 albums and multiple hits before tragically dying at 27 in LA in 1970. Joplin was known for her charismatic performing ability especially at Woodstock in 1969 and the Festival Express train tour.
